The Kiel-Canal (in German: Nord-Ostsee-Kanal) is the world’s busiest artificial waterway – almost 30.000 vessels transitted the Kiel-Canal in 2018.
It is the safest, shortest and the most convenient shipping route between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. An average of 280 nautical miles will be saved by using the Kiel-Canal instead of the way around Skaw.
